Leopard Hills’ Safaris

Your safaris experience at Leopard Hills is carefully planned around the best game viewing opportunities. The best times to enjoy game viewing are first thing in the morning before the heat of the day, and late afternoon as the day starts to cool down ensuring further animal movement.

For keen photographers, this usually coincides with the best light of the day – where pink horizons and golden light offer perfect photo opportunities.

Our enthusiastic guiding team – a number of which are excellent photographers themselves – will manoeuvre their vehicles through the bush aiming to give you the best possible angle.

If you are specifically aiming to capture a giraffe drinking, elephants throwing dust or a leopard in a tree, please let your guide know and they will do what’s in their power to help you get the shot.

Game viewing highlights at Leopard Hills

Dating back to the 1950s, Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve has a long history of photographic safaris in the area and an abundance of game that is relaxed and unphased by vehicles and people.

The Sabi Sand is most famous for its leopard sightings. It’s here that you are almost guaranteed a sighting of one of our relaxed, resident males or females.

You are also likely to see elephants, lion, buffalo, zebra, warthogs, giraffe and lots of bird species – although nothing is ever guaranteed in the wild.

Game Viewing Schedule

Guests wishing to go on the early morning game drive, will receive a morning wake-up call at 05h00 in Summer and 05h30 in Winter. Tea and coffee is served overlooking the waterhole before departing on the drive at around 05h45 in Summer and 06h45 in Winter.

The morning drive lasts approximately three hours, depending on the game viewing; whereafter breakfast is served. For the more adventurous, there is a bush walk available after breakfast.

The evening photo safari South Africa departs at around 16h30 in Summer and 16h00 in Winter. The drive lasts approximately three hours.
