She continues to astound us…

After Dunx’s heart warming tribute to “The Legend”, I thought I would follow on with an astonishing sighting that very same afternoon down in the Mabrak River just west of the lodge.

We found her looking rather weary resting in the shade on the sand, no surprise after her very busy morning announcing her return home.

We watched her for a while until she got up and moved east a little…close to where an Elephant and Buffalo bull were peacefully feeding before flopping straight down onto the sand again.

Suddenly that familiar ‘sawing’ roar erupted right next to us! She kept looking west towards Metsi’s (female leopard) territory expectantly, almost taunting her to respond…

Satisfied that she had no threats she flopped down onto the sand again, showing scant respect for an approaching grumpy “Daggaboy”. This is the animal we are all most weary of on foot and here she is dozing in the sand with him only 30m away.

Enjoy the video footage below of the amazing interaction, and listen out for the audio right at the end. She is even telling an 800kg brute that this is her home!

Thanks Marlise for the great video footage from the back of the vehicle at the end. Turn up the audio.
